SERVICES FOR SINGING AND PERFORMANCE DEVELOPMENT:
Rhetta teaches vocal exercises to strengthen the voice for control, power, range, vibrato, endurance, pitch control, ear training, flexibility and fluidity, shapes and texture in sound as well as dynamic levels. You will learn placement of the voice and how to support the sounds that can be powerful or subtle and sensitive. You can learn to sing with a very clear voice or even use a slight rasp for character if desired. You can learn how to produce an open and wide sound or a thin wispy tone for expression. Your voice is a human instrument, and you can learn how to play it. You will learn how to create tones that match the emotion you are trying to convey in a song.
If you have never had private singing lessons, you will find that four lessons with Rhetta will teach you an understanding of how your voice operates on a basic technical level. Breath control and support of your voice is the foundation for making a healthy voice that will serve you for a lifetime of singing.
She believes that every voice has its own sound. She does not teach or believe in producing generic singers who sound alike. She looks for the uniqueness in each person’s voice.
Rhetta also teaches musical terminology so the singer can communicate better with their musicians. She teaches sight reading using the solfeggio method as well as harmony singing.

SINGING AND PERFORMANCE COACHING:
Rhetta helps the singer to find their own style as well as their particular music genre. She sees singing as an art form. You can learn how to use an imaginary paintbrush with color to create the sound to express your feelings for a particular song. There are many parts to interpreting a song including phrasing, dynamics and use of tone for emotions. Defining your own particular style is a process that involves experimentation with material and song keys and what you are looking to express personally. The heart of the song is always the most important thing. Singing with “soul” and “having that magic” actually can be learned with Rhetta.
Rhetta also works with performance issues. Some performers experience anxiety and tension before and during performing. Those issues can be addressed to make your performance become a joyful experience. Finding what to do with your hands and your body as well as the use of a microphone can be very liberating. For some performers, learning to communicate with an audience can be challenging, but also a very rewarding experience which leads to comfort and ease on stage.
VOCAL RECORDING TECHNIQUES:
Recording is very different from a live performance. The singer can learn how to “pour heart and soul” into a microphone without an audience. Each lesson with Rhetta is recorded so that you can hear your progress and come to appreciate your own voice. Rhetta also provides demo services for your voice and/or your songs. If needed, she does provide preproduction services to prepare you for your recording session for your CD. Rhetta also works as a Vocal Producer if you need her to be at your recording sessions.
VOCAL ARTIST DEVELOPMENT:
Rhetta works with the total singer/performer/songwriter artist to help them develop themselves which can include accompanying yourself on piano or guitar. Many of her students consider her a mentor and counselor for their careers and musical direction. She helps her clients find their way with their particular musical aspirations.
